To Pay Or Not To Pay?

Which Management Tools Do You Really Need?

When it comes to people management, everyone seems to have a perfect solution. Often that comes with paying a high price to buy a new app or online tool in order to really take your business to the next level, or so they promise.

But do you really need to spend a ton of money on programs in order to efficiently run a small business or manage employees?

I say no!

Often the simplest solution is the best solution and I’m here to share my three favorite tools I use every day to manage employees and keep our team on track.

1. Slack- communication just got simple and FREE! Gone are the days when you have to search through email for that missing conversation. With Slack, you can keep running conversations about particular topics, have private conversations with individual employees, and even leave audio or video messages when typing would just take too long. This tool has been the most valuable thing we use on our team and its basic version is free! Sure, the free version only keeps conversations from the last 3 months, but that’s never held us back as our team has grown in the last few years! Try out the free version and simplify communication for your team.

2. Monday- Ever find yourself drowning in a sea of sticky notes or searching through your email for notes for an upcoming meeting? Do you find yourself constantly forgetting things and typing a million notes on your phone throughout the day? Let me introduce you to my favorite organizational tool, Monday. I know what you're thinking- I have tried every tool and nothing ever works for me! I used to feel the same way before I found this simple tool that is just $8/person per month for the basic plan. The beauty of this program is how simple it is to create and access your information anytime you want. The phone app works just as well as the desktop version AND you can customize the way you store your data. The options are truly endless in how you can create and view your information.

3. Google tools- There’s nothing like being on the same page with your team, and google sheets and docs make it easier than ever to do just that simultaneously! When I say I use google for everything, I mean I use it for EVERYTHING.

Budgets- Check!

Employee tracking- Check!

Product Development- Double Check! The best thing about Google is that it is FREE to use and simple to share with others.

My biggest tip when searching for business solutions is to remember that our systems service us, we don't serve our systems! So pick the simplest solutions available to you for the best price and you will likely be able to do more than you imagined!
